Broken Chord

Aaron Meicht is a composer, trumpet player and electronic instrumentalist.

His music has been presented at Incubator Arts Project, HERE, ABC No Rio, HAU in Berlin, The Stone, Munich Experimental Music Festival, Ausland, The DUMBO Spot, Kulturhaus Mitte, Vital Joint, Silent Barn and the Knitting Factory.

2017 saw the ten year anniversary of the OZET project. OZET is an ongoing artistic collaboration with Scott Blumenthal that encompasses a variety of live performances, films, music and rituals. Each piece of the project draws on and expands the fictional history of the Collective Sphere OZET: an enormous spacecraft, created by an alternate-past Soviet empire to be home to several hundred lishenets (politically disenfranchised enemies of the people), euphemistically called "Pioneers." Previous OZET performances include Katorga (IAP), Common Hall Village 20 (IAP), Alberts I-V (HERE), and Koba/OZET Songbook (IAP). The recent release of The Transmissions EP on Bandcamp, and the relaunch of OZET.US mark the beginning of the OZET 10th anniversary celebration.

Aaron also writes music for theater, film and dance productions as Broken Chord. Recent Broadway work includes Danai Gurira's Eclipsed, directed by Liesl Tommy (starring Lupita Nyong'o) and Beau Willimon's The Parisian Woman, directed by Pam MacKinnon (starring Uma Thurman).

Meicht has composed dozens of other scores for Off Broadway theaters including Atlantic Theater Company (The Lying Lesson), LCT3 (Bull in a China Shop), Manhattan Theatre Club (Spirit Control, When We Were Young and Unafraid), Primary Stages (A Lifetime Burning, Informed Consent), Public Theater (Eclipsed, Party People), Rattlestick (Stay, Massacre, Charles Ives Take Me Home), Second Stage Theatre: (10 Things to Do Before I Die), Signature Theatre (The Dance and the Railroad, Appropriate), Women’s Project (Lascivious Something, Row After Row). Regional credits include productions for Actors Theatre of Louisville (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer), Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Party People), Centerstage (American Buffalo, Pride and Prejudice), Dallas Theater Center (The Tempest, King Lear, Deferred Action), Hartford Stage (Whipping Man, Gem of the Ocean, Snow Falling on Cedars), Huntington Theatre (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, A Raisin in the Sun), La Jolla Playhouse (Ruined), Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Party People, Ruined), People's Light (End Days, A Wrinkle in Time, Pride and Prejudice), Shakespeare Theatre Company (Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet), Trinity Repertory Company (Steel Magnolias, Crime and Punishment, The Glass Menagerie), and Yale Repertory Theater (Eclipsed, These Paper Bullets!).
